Fresh Princess

It's been unseasonably warm and I'm kinda mad about it because we didn't really get a winter... but not mad not to take advantage of these really great mom jeans I found at Village Discount for like 2 bucks.

i found that hat (on top it says "LIFE IS FUN") in my hat box (apparently that was a thing in my closet... w/e kwl) and i guess its from when i was a baby G.

yup it definitely is
also my spoken word team did hella well in Louder Than A Bomb, chicago's teen poetry festival, so i was reppin' summa dat pride

we r a girl gang don't mess
got some converse kicks, some old athletic socks, and my mom's grungy long-sleeved shirt undaneath my tshirt.

the day these pictures were taken, caroline and lili and I went to harper foods to get three things: hot cheetos, chocolate whole milk (ya i k tell me about it) and sour skittles
we had a tea party in carrotsline's backyard but it was more like a feast

POETRY IZ POWER
got my usual maxwell street market bracelets/ buddhist prayer beadz

this whole day i felt like will smith in fresh prince so i decided to be a little more girly with pigtail braidz and some kitschy old hair baubles, or whatever they're called (my cousin used to call them "pretties")

don't ask me to recite the fresh prince theme song/rap because I WILL

sweet!

It's the last full week of winter quarter.

Winter was weird and warm and kind of gross. I always try and convince myself that I really like winter. But I don't. I just really want to have a picnic and go biking and read outside and relax! Is that too much to ask for?

So here's a bit of an inspiration post to get PUMPED for Spring. I'm keeping my fingers triple crossed that it will be nice and warm and not too windy or rainy. But I hope it's not TOO nice that I can't stand being inside at school more than usual. Internal conflicts...

Also, this song has been stuck in my head...

He Loves You Not by Dream

Wish List: Witchy Rings

I'm a bit of a ring freak. A few months ago I went from one or two regular, everyday rings to, like, seven. I went driving with a driving instructor the other day, and he told me about the wedding ring he was buying his fiancé, a burlesque dancer/ stripper. She designed it and it apparently has a sun and moon and stars on it, as well as rare gemstones they had to fly to Belgium to pick up. (did I mention he is a 60-year-old white guy with a Chicago accent, 18-inch-long dreads, and few albums out with a reggae band he plays the guitar for?) Anyway, my latest obsession has now become witchy, moon-and-stars kinda rings. After much internet scouring, I came up with a few different sources of inspiration for either when i eventually get engaged and need to design a witchy wedding ring or when I next feel the need to buy a load of rings.

First and foremost, you have your thick-banded, engraved rings:

And your cut-out ring:

your occult and paganism-symbols emblazoned ring:

Then you have your thin-banded, detailed rings:

(that's supposed to be the moon's face, lawl)

Then you have your rings with "gemstones" in them:

Then you have what are apparently called "gypsy" rings (I apologize for the racial epithet!!!):

i also stumbled across this really cool online shop that sells really cheap "gypsy" rings like these, which I thought were sufficiently "magick"-al looking:

the best part about witchy rings is that when you're wearing them, you'll probably feel like you're wielding some immense power or like you've suddenly gained the ability to perform black magic. start looking for that one ring to rule them all!
