you fit me better than my favorite sweater

I know, I know. It's been a LONG time. But Stefania and I have been soupz busy with stuff! ...not really

Anyways, we all know pastels are ~~pretty~~ and everyone on Tumblr likes to post pictures of pretty rosettes and lace and misty pictures with BEAUTIFUL BUTTERFLIES.

I think there's this other side of pastel where it's so perfect it's sterile. And this kind of ties into the English class I'm in right now, a science fiction/dystopia course. Pastels are SO superficial, but they're like overachievers. They sort of become that gum that you've been chewing for 3 hours that gets really gross and you can't get the taste out of your mouth except with more gum. THERE YOU HAVE IT, pastels are like gross gum.

Also, pastels are sort of stuck up. They don't really mix well with other shades. I mean, they certainly CAN, but they usually don't. Ok, afterthought=over.

Unfortunately, I don't have a whole stock of "sterile pastel" photos. I love pastel, don't get me wrong. This specific section is just a little too creepy and perfect for my taste.

Love, C

PS. I DO WANT THAT LIPSTICK, THOUGH

as promised

My camera got developed! I have two sets of the pictures, which actually turned out to be a good thing. Now I can give one away and keep one for myself!
The pictures on the camera ranged from my college visits to good ol' Chicago "spring."
So bear with me as you look at the pictures. I do NOT claim to be a photographer. Trust me.

 Disco ball!

A lot of the pictures were of food. Yum

An awesome store I went to in a college town

That's me! According to a friend, I look like an old man.

In case you couldn't tell, this is the sky.

A scarf in a dressing room in a vintage store. In another college town.

Me again! (Not?) looking like an old man. I'm wearing a shirt from Nordstrom, a skirt from a flea market at ANOTHER college and DIY saddle shoes.

such a wonder

Hi everyone. I know, I know we haven't posted in like 2 and a half weeks. But we went on Spring Break! Mine wasn't thaaaat exciting, but I'll have more on that later.
So what's new? Unfortunately, not much. Today I found that my hair is finally half an inch past my shoulders. Success!

I came upon this AMAZING tumblr which is really amazing. Seriously. Check it out.

That and March's theme on RookieMag have really gotten me into nature and my surroundings, which will (hopefully)(probably not) be reflected by some pictures I'll post LATER. Seriously guys! Stop stressing me out :((. Maybe this is somehow connected to the post I did about Spring and warm weather and flowers, but I think I'm just tired of being stuck in this weird and somewhat chilly weather. I'm really excited for clouds and birds and trees and PRETTY THINGS because I'm just a ~~**girly girl**~~ at <3heart. I think I'm just looking forward to big open fields with green grass. Then Jenny and Forrest Gump are going show up and we'll make flower crowns and sing Bobby Dylan songs on Jenny's guitar.

1-5 are from the aforementioned tumblr (which is super amazing, so SERIOUSLY JUST LOOK AT IT)(please), unknown from herePatagonia (my dream)

PS. My friend Rebecca wrote her own shoutout: "my best friend fo lyfe is awesome and my favorite and her name is rebecca." She rocks, guys. Not as much as Forrest Gump, but still.

Fresh Princess

It's been unseasonably warm and I'm kinda mad about it because we didn't really get a winter... but not mad not to take advantage of these really great mom jeans I found at Village Discount for like 2 bucks.

i found that hat (on top it says "LIFE IS FUN") in my hat box (apparently that was a thing in my closet... w/e kwl) and i guess its from when i was a baby G.

yup it definitely is
also my spoken word team did hella well in Louder Than A Bomb, chicago's teen poetry festival, so i was reppin' summa dat pride

we r a girl gang don't mess
got some converse kicks, some old athletic socks, and my mom's grungy long-sleeved shirt undaneath my tshirt.

the day these pictures were taken, caroline and lili and I went to harper foods to get three things: hot cheetos, chocolate whole milk (ya i k tell me about it) and sour skittles
we had a tea party in carrotsline's backyard but it was more like a feast

POETRY IZ POWER
got my usual maxwell street market bracelets/ buddhist prayer beadz

this whole day i felt like will smith in fresh prince so i decided to be a little more girly with pigtail braidz and some kitschy old hair baubles, or whatever they're called (my cousin used to call them "pretties")

don't ask me to recite the fresh prince theme song/rap because I WILL

sweet!

It's the last full week of winter quarter.

Winter was weird and warm and kind of gross. I always try and convince myself that I really like winter. But I don't. I just really want to have a picnic and go biking and read outside and relax! Is that too much to ask for?

So here's a bit of an inspiration post to get PUMPED for Spring. I'm keeping my fingers triple crossed that it will be nice and warm and not too windy or rainy. But I hope it's not TOO nice that I can't stand being inside at school more than usual. Internal conflicts...

Also, this song has been stuck in my head...

Wish List: Witchy Rings

I'm a bit of a ring freak. A few months ago I went from one or two regular, everyday rings to, like, seven. I went driving with a driving instructor the other day, and he told me about the wedding ring he was buying his fiancé, a burlesque dancer/ stripper. She designed it and it apparently has a sun and moon and stars on it, as well as rare gemstones they had to fly to Belgium to pick up. (did I mention he is a 60-year-old white guy with a Chicago accent, 18-inch-long dreads, and few albums out with a reggae band he plays the guitar for?) Anyway, my latest obsession has now become witchy, moon-and-stars kinda rings. After much internet scouring, I came up with a few different sources of inspiration for either when i eventually get engaged and need to design a witchy wedding ring or when I next feel the need to buy a load of rings.

First and foremost, you have your thick-banded, engraved rings:

And your cut-out ring:

your occult and paganism-symbols emblazoned ring:

Then you have your thin-banded, detailed rings:

(that's supposed to be the moon's face, lawl)

Then you have your rings with "gemstones" in them:

Then you have what are apparently called "gypsy" rings (I apologize for the racial epithet!!!):

i also stumbled across this really cool online shop that sells really cheap "gypsy" rings like these, which I thought were sufficiently "magick"-al looking:

the best part about witchy rings is that when you're wearing them, you'll probably feel like you're wielding some immense power or like you've suddenly gained the ability to perform black magic. start looking for that one ring to rule them all!

staring at the northern star

This stuff is super old-- from fall 2011 when Caroline and I were well on our way to what we thought would be a sweater-swaddled winter. Boy were we wrong.

aghhh what an uneventful outfit. The sweater is my from one o mah bros. It is wonderful and itchy and 100% wool! I found the beret in my house, lucky day! Tights are from somewhere, socks were found in my house and the shoes were mah Momma's!

My hair looks so strawberry blonde!

Vintage Levi's jacket, Plastic Constellations band t-shirt from my bruthas, navy and dark-green flannel from my older brother, boy scout belt from my other older brother, mom's chico's maxi skirt under a F21 witchy/lace maxi, betsy johnson socks and creepers from demonia.

black lipstick from wet n wild (which i got on sale at CVS right after halloween!), anthropologie earrings, necklaces are from claire's, vintage key and everything else.
(my hair has changed so much since then!)

keep kneelin' to the frozen lights!
